John “Chap” Dinkins
Chap got started in the construction industry by working his way through college as a draftsman for an Architect and a Civil Engineer. This valuable design experience gives him an advantage over most general contractors. An alumnus of UCF, Chap spent the first 5 years of his professional career as a general contractor for chain restaurants and retail stores around the country. He successfully delivered over 75 locations in challenging markets. A few note worthy projects include the LaGuardia Airport, the Mall of America, and the World Trade Center. He has worked from Boston to South Florida, Minneapolis to Austin and everywhere major metropolitan area in between.
Since bringing his family back home to Ocala in 2000 and settling into larger scale new construction commercial developments, Chap has successfully delivered over 300 million dollars worth of new commercial construction. Chap has developed many local landmarks and a few include: Hampton Inn, BMW, Volkswagen, Porshe, Lazyboy, Badcock Furniture, and Pinnacle Plaza. He has also help dozens of doctors with new professional medical clinics and office space. But his true passion is building churches. He has successfully delivered many churches and a few include: Living Waters, Fellowship Baptist, Marion Oaks Assembly of God, Oxford Assembly of God, and Church at the Springs.
Chap believes in giving back and has served on the Board of Directors for Kimberly’s Center and Interfaith Emergency Services. As an Eagle Scout, he was involved with Scouting as a leader long enough to rebuild Troop 440 and see 7 Eagle Scouts emerge from his leadership.
